2017 SUMMER HIGHER GROUND REGISTRATION IS HERE!!!

We are back and better than ever! Our summer academic camp is here with two (2) full weeks of awesome opportunities and fun! Here are the details:

*Each course is only $50/participant for the week!
*Open to ALL/ANY students in the participating grades
*Grades listed are for the 2017-2018 school year

WEEK #1 - Monday-Friday - July 17th - 21st

10am-12pm: 'Art Explorers' with Mrs. Buttrum! (for Grades K-2)
10am-12pm: 'Full S.T.E.A.M Ahead' with Mrs. Filipovich (for Grades 3-5)

12pm-1pm: 'Supervised (Mrs. B) LUNCH' hour (Free & only for registered participants). Participants must bring their own lunch.

1pm-3pm: 'Painting Picassos' with Mrs. Buttrum (for Grades 3-6)
1pm-3pm: 'Books & Building' with Mrs. Nezworski (for Grades 1-2)

WEEK #2 - Monday-Friday - July 24th - 28th

10am-12pm: 'Science+Art = Creative Adventures' with Mrs. Filipovich (for Grades 1-3)
10am-12pm: 'Not-so-Bored Game' Club with Mrs. McGarvey (for Grades 3-5)

12pm-1pm: 'Supervised (Mrs. McGarvey) LUNCH' hour (Free & only for registered participants). Participants must bring their own lunch.

1pm-3pm: 'Relay Races & Team Building' with Mrs. McGarvey (for Grades 3-5)
1pm-3pm: 'Summer S.T.E.M.' with Mrs. Nezworski (for Grades 3-6)

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS:

SUPERVISED LUNCH HOUR (Both Weeks)
Brief Description: Students are welcome to come eat lunch and participate in a station which would include: Puzzles, Coloring/Drawing, Reading, Board Games
Time Slot: 12pm-1pm
Supervisors: Mrs. B (Week#1), Mrs. McGarvey (Week#2)

WEEK#1 COURSES:

ART EXPLORERS W/MRS.B! (Mrs. Buttrum)
Brief Description: Become an art explorer with Mrs. B this summer! During our time together we will be looking at different artists and styles of art. We will use unusual materials to be creative and take home some awesome artwork at the end! If you like to make art, come join us in our exploration!
Grades (as of 2017-2018 school year): K-2nd
Time Slot: 10am-12pm
Dates: July 17-21

FULL S.T.E.A.M AHEAD! (Mrs. Filipovich)
Brief Description: Let’s get making, building, and experimenting with hands-on activities and projects! Using everyday materials, recycled items, and even stuff found in the kitchen, you can solve challenges and come up with one-of-a kind designs. Tap into to your creative thinking and ideas to investigate and collaborate on exciting new discoveries.
Grades (as of 2017-2018 school year): 3rd, 4th, and 5th
Time Slot: 10am-12pm
Dates: July 17-21

PAINTING PICASSOS W/MRS.B! (Mrs. Buttrum)
Brief Description: Students will explore a variety of artworks by learning to paint with Acrylics, Watercolors, Tempera’s and Oil. If you enjoy painting, this class is for you! Learn different styles and brush techniques as you create your own works of art!
Grades (as of 2017-2018 school year): 3rd-6th
Time Slot: 1pm-3pm
Dates: July 17-21

BOOKS & BUILDING (Mrs. Nezworski)
Brief Description: After sharing a book, the students will work in teams to complete a challenge based on the story. Students might be coming up with an escape plan for Rapunzel or creating a safety net for Humpty Dumpty. You can be sure that whatever the challenge, the teams will have fun!
Grades (as of 2017-2018 school year): 1st and 2nd
Time Slot: 1-3pm
Dates: July 17 – 21

WEEK#2 COURSES

SCIENCE + ART = CREATIVE ADVENTURES (Mrs. Filipovich)
Brief Description: Explore, play, dance, sing, and create to discover the endless possibilities of the world around us. Through a scientific journey, you will practice using different tools, participating in fun activities, and learning extraordinary ways to make art.
Grades (as of 2017-2018 school year): 1st, 2nd, and 3rd
Time Slot: 10am-12pm
Dates: July 24-28

NOT-SO-BORED GAME CLUB (Mrs. McGarvey)
Brief Description: Do you like Sorry, Monopoly, LIFE, or Phase Ten but you just don’t have the time to play them as much as you like? Come join Mrs. McGarvey and play a variety of board games!
Grades (as of 2017-2018 school year): 3-5
Time Slot: 10am-12pm
Dates: July 24-28

RELAY RACES & TEAM BUILDING (Mrs. McGarvey)
Brief Description: If you enjoy team building games, relay races, and out-of-the-box thinking… then this is the club for you! Come join Mrs. McGarvey, and take part in these thought provoking, super fun games to be held both inside and outside! Hope to see you there!

Time Slot: 1pm-3pm

SUMMER S.T.E.M. (Mrs. Nezworski)
Brief Description: Students will use critical thinking, construction, and creativity to rise to the Summer STEM challenge. Each day the students will cooperate with their Engineering Team to determine how best to complete each of the challenges. The teams will test their projects at the conclusion of each day because what would a challenge be without a little bit of competition!
Grades (as of 2017-2018 school year): 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th
Time Slot: 1pm-3pm
Dates: July 24-28
